The 2017 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium will run from Thursday, January 19 through Saturday, January 21 in San Francisco, California. The symposium will feature two sessions on neuroendocrine tumors (NETs), as well as poster presentations and an oral abstract presentation on NET research and therapy.
The first of the two sessions will discuss imaging and therapy in NETs, focusing on clinical advances using positron emission tomography (PET) and peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT). The session is on Friday, January 20 from 6:55 am to 7:55 am and will include three speakers: Tom Hope, MD; Jonathan Strosberg, MD; and Arturo Loaiza-Bonilla, MD. In the afternoon, an oral abstract session from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm will highlight Abstract 228 by Jennifer Chan, MD, on a Phase II trial of cabozantinib in patients with carcinoid and pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors.
The second session on NETs will be held from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm on Friday, January 20, discussing the practical applications of emerging treatment options in neuroendocrine tumors. Bertram Wiedenmann, MD, PhD and George Fisher, MD, PhD will chair the session. The session will open with a presentation of Abstract 224, by Eva Segelov, FRACP, PhD, on the development of follow up recommendations for completely resected gastroenteropancreatic NETs. The session will also include three case presentations and a multi-disciplinary panel consisting of Jeffrey Norton, MD; Michael Soulen, MD; Wolfgang Weber, MD; and Emily Bergsland, MD.
A number of posters on NET research will also be featured at Poster Session B on Friday, January 20 from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm and 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.
